Our Privacy-First Approach

EverFern is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your data should remain yours.

Unlike cloud-based AI agents that process your screen data on their servers, EverFern runs entirely on your machine. Your screen, your files, your passwords — none of it ever leaves your computer unless you explicitly choose to use a third-party AI provider.

What Data We Collect

When you use our hosted services (waitlist, newsletter):

  • Email address (for waitlist and communications)
  • Usage statistics (anonymized)
  • Technical information (browser type, IP address for security)

We do not collect: Your screen content, files, passwords, or any personal data processed by the EverFern application when self-hosted.

Self-Hosted Instances

When you self-host EverFern:

  • All data stays on your machine
  • We have zero access to your data
  • We cannot see what tasks you perform
  • We cannot see which skills you use
  • You control all data retention and deletion

Third-Party AI Providers

If you choose to connect EverFern to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.):

  • Screen data is sent to the provider you choose
  • Subject to the provider’s privacy policy
  • We do not intermediate or store this data
  • You can use local models for complete privacy

How We Use Your Data

We use collected data only for:

  • Sending waitlist updates and product announcements
  • Improving our software based on anonymized usage patterns
  • Providing customer support
  • Security and fraud prevention

Data Storage & Security

Waitlist data is stored securely with industry-standard encryption. We use trusted third-party services (Supabase, Resend) that maintain SOC 2 compliance. Self-hosted instance data is entirely your responsibility.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Unsubscribe from communications at any time
  • Export your data
